Michael Vick Wants a What?!?!

Dec. 15: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick leaves the field after his team beat the Dallas Cowboys 30-27 in an NFL football game in Arlington, Texas.

In a recent interview, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick stated that he wanted to get a pet.  Not just any pet, but a dog.  I think I about died.  Michael Vick, in case you didn't know, spent almost two years in a federal prison on dogfighting charges.  What he subjected pit bulls to was so heinous, I will not discuss it here.  Prior to his conviction, he was a star quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, and had a multi-million dollar contract, along with millions in lucrative endorsements.  After his conviction, he was let go from the Falcons and then the NFL suspended him.  When he got out of prison, his friend, quarterback Donovan McNabb from the Eagles, got him a job as the back-up quarterback.  He now makes about $2 million a year.

Vick now states that having a dog would help in his rehabilitation.  I say, "no way!"  The only pet this man should ever have is a fish, and even that he should be monitored.  If you allow him to have a dog, who's to say he won't figure out how to fight it or breed it for fighters?  I'm all about redemption and second chances, but from what I've seen, Vick hasn't shown that he is truly sorry.  Where are all the ads of him for the ASPCA?  What about for PETA?  How about as a spokesperson for the Humane Society?  I haven't seen it.  As far as I can see, he is all talk, and no actions.  Actions, as they say, speak louder than words, and Mr. Vick needs to "put up or shut up."
